Why Should I Be Born Again? “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3 ) What Must I “Do” To Be Born Again? 1). Recognize that YOU are a sinner. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23 ) “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (1 John 1:8-9 ) 2). Recognize that the PRICE for sin is DEATH. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 ) 3). Recognize that YOU cannot “do” anything to save yourself. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9 ) 4). Recognize that JESUS has done the work for you. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 ) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 ) 5). Believe on Jesus Christ to SAVE you. “…Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:30-31 ) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:16-18 ) “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12 ) “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10 ) My friend, you might think that this seems too simple to be true, however that is how God planned for it to be. Salvation is God’s gift to man and therefore HE alone makes the rules. Many people have been deceived by false religions that have taught them that they have to “earn” their way to heaven by man- made rules and doctrines. These cannot save you nor can they pay the price for sin. Sin is a personal offense before God and He requires the shedding of blood. However, in His love and grace He made a way to pay the price of death through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. Don’t be fooled into thinking that you can earn your way out of hell or that your church, priest, baptism, sacraments, penance, or any other thing can save you. All those things are a trick of the Devil to keep you from trusting in the ONE thing that can save you. “In whom the god of this world (that is, the devil) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (2 Corinthians 4:4 ) The Gospel is SIMPLY this: You are a sinner bound for an eternal hell, but Jesus paid the price for your sin at Calvary (He died, was buried, and rose again victorious over death and hell on the 3rd day) and if you will put your faith and trust in HIM alone YOU CAN BE SAVED! If you are willing to receive Jesus into your life now, you can invite Him in by prayer. You may use the following prayer or a similar one using your own words: "Dear Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God and died to forgive me of my sins. I know I have sinned. I ask You to forgive me. I turn from my sins, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. I want to live for You the rest of my life. Amen."
